It is that time of the year when we seek candidates for our growing Department of Media and Visual Arts at Koç University. This year we have two open-rank positions:
Fulltime Faculty Position in Interaction Design
Koç University, Department of Media and Visual Arts (MAVA) and the Koç University – Arçelik Research Center for Creative Industries (KUAR) invite applications for full-time faculty position of any rank in interaction Design.
At the time of employment, September 2018, applicants are expected to have a PhD in interaction design in one of the following areas and have a record of demonstrated research accomplishments,
-
design (product design, communication design, user experience design, architecture or similar),
-
engineering and sciences (electrical engineering, computer science, human computer interaction or similar),
-
social sciences (psychology, sociology, cognitive science or similar)
The successful candidate is expected to teach two courses per semester and have an active research agenda. The candidate will also be affiliated with KUAR. Applicants with interdisciplinary research agenda are highly encouraged. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

MAVA at Koç University offers an interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes communications theory, media/arts management, and production. Students enrolled at the Department of Media and Visual Arts were ranked at or above the 99th percentile of the Central University Placement Exams in Turkey.
Founded jointly by Koç University and Arçelik A.Ş. (www.arcelikas.com) in 2015, KUAR aims to add value, via research, that increases the efficiency and international competitiveness of Turkish creative industries. A wide range of topics such as lifestyle, entertainment (game, performance, movies, drama, animation), cultural heritage (exhibitions, heritage, analysis), info-assistance, transportation, education, healthcare lie within the scope of research conducted at KUAR where research and development on conceptual/experimental/visionary prototypes, working prototypes, re-design prototypes of products, design guidelines is undertaken.

Areas of specialization are open, but candidates specializing in journalism, media and politics, cultural studies, media management, and marketing are particularly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach two courses per semester and is expected to have an active research agenda. At the time of employment, candidates should have a PhD. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose research agenda is interdisciplinary. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
